Born in the Dominican Republic, Quisqueya, a place from where we migrated to the United States at the young age of thirteen. We’ve been drawing/sketching since we were children and we strongly believe that art it played a great part in who we are today. As teenagers, we started designing and selling apparel that represent cultures. Mainly because like most immigrants, we wanted to represent where we were from. The frustration of not being able to find one t-shirt that truly represented our country, practically pushed us to create our own.
We saved money while we worked on design ideas and waited for the right summer to come. We bought a van, a cellphone, a stack of business cards and printed as many t-shirt
designs as we could before hitting the ground running. That summer, we spent every day selling t-shirts through the streets of Boston. A great experience that eventually gave birth to Roots United.
